COBAK ENVIRONMENTAL was started out of necessity.  In November of 1999, The Owner, Scott Santner was away deer hunting for the weekend.  Because he got his buck early Sunday, He decided to come home & attend to business before the long holiday weekend.

When he arrived home late Monday, he found that the Condo above his had a washer line burst the day before.  The owner upstairs didn't have liability insurance to cover the clean up.  While the association was deciding who was to pay for the clean up,  Mold was starting to grow.  Scott is experienced dealing with Fire & Water Restoration since 1989, so he decided to proceed with the cleanup.  The insurance company decided that the condo owner above his were responsible to pay for the damage.

A few days went by until the owner acquired the funds to pay for the restoration.  By this time, mold was in the wall cavities, ceilings, carpet, etc.  The demo proceeded with all the ceilings & sound barrier insulation removed. The wall cavities were dried out as well as possible & any mold on the surface was cleaned.  The insulation was replaced & drywall was finished & painted.  The carpets were cleaned & drying equipment was used.  This was standard water damage restoration in the industry as though he thought.  He has been doing this for over ten years.

A month pasted & Scott noticed that himself & his girlfriend were getting severe headaches when ever they were home for more than a few hours.  He decided to cruise the internet for information on why they were getting headaches.  He found a web site that was related to mold & the health effects that infected homes have on humans.  He researched further & couldn't find any contractors in the Wisconsin area doing remediation or testing.  He sent for a home test kit to test his condo & found that he had high counts of Penicillium & Aspergillius Niger.   After finding this out, he decided to purchase the equipment to do mold remediation & cleaned up his own residence.  He has been offering Mold Remediation since January of 2000.

In March of 2001, he could no longer work out of his condo because of association restrictions.  He started looking for a home.  He looked at a lot of homes to purchase.  He found the perfect home & location.  He was about to put a offer on the house until he went into the attic & discovered MOLD covering the decking.  He handed a Business card to the realtor & left Immediately.  Since this happened to him, he knew there was a need for mold inspection of homes & businesses.  January of 2002, He went to MOLD INSPECTOR LLC in HURRICANE, UTAH.  He wanted to be certified by a company that had a excellent reputation & training program.  He has since completed the certification  program & is now classified as a Certified Mold Inspector & Certified Mold Contractor.

Scott's other division of Cobak, LLC is COBAK CONSTRUCTION. This division works closely with the Environmental division to coordinate & schedule the restoration of the project. Once the project has been remediated, they can move forward & set a restoration schedule without any delays.  They also do Fire & Water Restoration, general remodeling & construction.
